DWLC Teachers and Assistants are people with a true calling to work with young children and truly love being a part of the developmental breadth these ages offer.
All staff must love the natural world, enjoy being outside in all types of weather and thrill at the idea of children who are active explorers and co-creaters of their own learning experience – including getting muddy, studying bugs, splashing in puddles and rolling in sand.

Applicants should have:
- Teaching or other experience with multiple toddlers at one time.
- Experience or familiarity with one or more of the following educational approaches strongly preferred: RIE, Reggio Emilia Approach or Waldorf.
- Ability to effectively work with children individually and in groups.
- Ability to thrive in a collaborative, evolving environment.
- Love of nature and being outdoors in all weather; respect and appreciation for creatures, including, insects, small wildlife and birds, and a true appreciation for the need for children to get muddy, dirty and wet.
- Compelling and inspiring ability to communicate respectfully and wholly with children.
- Demonstrated ability to understand and balance the needs of children, parents, and other staff.
- Up to date CPR/first aid certification.
- Ability to move about and stand for up to 8 hours.
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
